HAMILTON, BERMUDA, April 25, 2007 – In a statement issued today, Francis Mussenden, CEO of BTC, announced that the ambitious but practical overhaul they undertook at BTC in 2002 is now having a positive and meaningful impact on customers.
According to Mussenden, BTC is now seeing “very tangible and satisfying results” in key customer performance areas. Notably, wait times for installation are now 3 days on average, repair times are also down to 3 days and customer surveys are reporting a 90% satisfaction rate with customers who have had dealings with BTC in the last six months.
Although great strides have been made, BTC stresses that the corporate transformation, which included approximately $60 Million in investments to network infrastructure, is still a work in progress. Referring to the turnaround Mussenden says, this is “fundamental progress, but our promise is to keep working at it. We aim to continue setting new standards and seeing results.”
BTC’s consumer-centred restructuring was driven by overwhelming customer demand for improved service and the need to properly position the Island’s telecom infrastructure for future industry growth. The process was a humbling one for BTC, and the company encountered many growing pains while evolving into the more customer-centric organization that it is today.
Recent customer satisfaction surveys have been so positive that BTC is launching a series of ads designed to inform the public of the consistent and reliable levels of service that now exist within the company. The ads are drawn from interviews with real BTC customers who were pleasantly surprised at the professionalism, promptness and quality of their service experience with BTC.
The ad campaign is a necessary communication to the public because as the CEO stated, “Most residents don’t know that we have changed in this way, because they haven’t had dealings with BTC in the last year.” The ads are also in keeping with BTC’s mandate to improve on-going communication with their customers.
“Setting new standards. Seeing Results.” is the phrase the company is using to capture its’ earnest commitment to continuous improvement. Mussenden expanded further by saying “We are no longer the old BTC, and we owe this not only to the employees who have been making this exciting, often difficult cultural shift, but to the customers who demanded better.”
In addition, Mussenden noted that this is BTC’s 120th Anniversary, and they will be hosting a series of events to celebrate it. BTC is also a sponsor of Tech Week which runs from May 7-12th.
